About Me

A Food Scientist’s Journey: Bridging Research and Real-World Applications

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Simarata Dhillon, a Harvard-trained Health & Wellness Coach passionate about bridging science and everyday life. Through Lifestyle Medicine, Functional Nutrition, and Mindset Techniques, I guide professionals in managing fatigue, stress, and chronic health conditions through personalized, evidence-based strategies that promote healing and sustainable well-being.

Educational & Professional Background:

  • Bachelor's in Biological Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala, India (2005)

  • Master’s in Biotechnology, Thapar University, Patiala, India (2007)

  • Master’s in Food Science, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada (2009)

  • Ph.D. in Food Science, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada (2013)

I am a Food Scientist with 20 years of experience in academic and corporate research, working with leading universities and global organizations across technology hubs in Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco. My expertise spans food ingredient technology applications, product innovation and product development in good-for-you and fun-for-you categories, clinical research, and consumer insights.

My Personal Struggle

After two decades immersed in research, and having personally navigated hormonal imbalances, problematic skin, and autoimmune conditions, I was drawn to a more personal, holistic approach to health. I saw many individuals struggling with chronic illnesses, food sensitivities, digestive and skin issues, and low energy—often overwhelmed by conflicting advice.

Training

To bridge the gap between science and practical solutions, I trained as a Health, Lifestyle & Wellness Coach through advanced programs at Harvard Medical School, focusing on science-backed health, nutrition, lifestyle, and behavior-change strategies. I am also an American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) Lifestyle Medicine & Food-as-Medicine Advocate, and I’m currently pursuing board certifications to provide the highest standard of evidence-based support.

Certifications:

  • Board Approved Health Coach Certification Program, mindbodygreen (Expected Nov 2025)

  • Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching, Harvard Medical School (Aug 2025)

  • Nutrition and Wellness Coaching, Harvard Medical School (Aug 2025)

  • Lifestyle Medicine & Food-as-Medicine Essentials, American College of Lifestyle Medicine (Aug 2025)

  • Health and Wellness: Designing a Sustainable Nutrition Plan, Harvard Medical School (Jun 2025)

What I Offer:

Today, I guide individuals to build sustainable habits across healthy eating patterns, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and social connection—integrating lifestyle medicine and food-as-medicine principles.

My approach is practical, compassionate, and science-informed, designed to help clients feel more energized, confident, and in control of their health.

My mission is simple: to help professionals, who give so much to their careers, reclaim their most important asset — their health — so they can elevate their productivity and performance, and strengthen their relationships in both professional and personal lives.
